We Used To Be In Love – Clean Cut Kid
To put it simply, Clean Cut Kid are incredibly addictive. Their style is by no means new but they master the indie-pop sound with fresh, upbeat lyrics and music videos that make you remember that music videos are still a thing. The band from Liverpool have been making their mark on the alternative scene over the last year and they’re only going to get bigger now that they’ve just launched their debut album, Felt.
Scud Books – Hudson Mohawke
Hudson Mohawke is a Scottish producer who has famously collaborated with the likes of Kayne West. In true Zerbitt style, we’re not even sure what genre this song should fall into! It’s somewhat of an electronic head banger – if you’re not nodding along then there might be something wrong with you.
Welcome To Jamrock – Damian Marley
The most successful of Bob Marley’s sons, Damian Marley followed in his father’s reggae steps producing songs as long ago as 1992 and continuing to this day with his new album, Stony Hill out later this year. Welcome To Jamrock is arguably Damian’s most famous track and is about the reality of life in Jamaica as being violent and corrupt.
Fade – Jakwob feat. Maiday
When Jakwob first came onto the scene he produced some of the biggest dubstep and dance tunes of the late naughties. He continued to experiment with styles and what we hear on Fade is a melodic masterpiece of electronic music. It’s one for the headphones more than the clubs and proves how diverse Jakwob can be.
Officer – Slightly Stoopid
Slightly Stoopid describe their music as “a fusion of folk, rock, reggae and blues with hip-hop, funk, metal and punk”. Having been going since 1994, they have released 12 albums that sound exactly like their California roots. The dreamy surf-guitar sound is reminiscent of Sublime and makes you think of house parties in American teen movies.
