Some Spanish garage rock – Today’s top tracks

Come With Me – Nora En Pure

Having only been around for less than 4 years, Come With Me has become a deep house favourite. Nora En Pure is a South African-Swiss DJ who has remixed songs from the likes of Wretch 32 and Klinglande. This track is a stunning, down-beat, beach song destined to make you yearn for the summer.

Open Your Eyes – School Of Seven Bells

School Of Seven Bells mastered the electro-pop sound, even adding their own twist by singing in such a unique style. The group no longer exist after Claudia left in 2010 and Curtis tragically died of Lymphona in 2013. They managed to release a final album, SVIIB, in 2016 using demos written prior to Curtis’s death. This song feels even more beautiful knowing that it is somewhat of an homage.

Car Radio – Twenty One Pilots

Twenty One Pilots have shot to fame with their latest album but this track is one from their first that really showcases their talents and ability to span genres. Is it emo? Is it indie? Is it rap? Is it techno? This is why we absolutely love this track, it takes some of the best bits of all genres and styles them into a power ballad. The album this track comes from, Vessel is well worth a listen and arguably their best work to date.

Heaven Or Las Vegas – Cocteau Twins

An oldy but somehow still feels immensly relevant. This song was released in 1990 and the band from Scotland received considerable attention as a result of their album of the same name. This song really has that 90’s feel that was so special and, reportedly, their style was a big influence for chart-topper The Weeknd.

Bamboo – Hinds

Is it me or does this song sound like it was recorded in the 60’s? It wasn’t it is actually from 2014. Hinds are a Spanish quartet from Madrid who have only released one studio album so far but this song displays their potential as a garage rock band. They have listed their influences as they likes of The Strokes, Black Lips and The Vaccines so you can see where they are coming from but their sound is much more unique which is what is great about this track.
